Facts & Benefits of Aerothane
The closed cell structure in Aerothane foams is generated by using elastic micro baloons inside of TPU elastomers. These ballons hold up to 600 bars / 8,700 psi of pressure. This unique combination makes pressure stable but high elasitc thermoplastic foams possible for the first time ever. Besides the superior chemical properties of TPU, the now resulting mechanical properties are unrivaled compared to common closed cell foams. Because Aerothane can be based on the same TPU as common breathable textile membranes, a combination of water repellent, breathable and temperature insulating foam can be created for the first time. Besides this Aerothane is:
Benefits for Consumers
Breathable - Compared to other insulation foams and rubbers Aerothane is breathable and thereby more comfortable
Water repellent
Antiallergic
Antimicrobial - Aerothane blocks the appearance and growth of microorgansim (bacterias, germs, fungals, virals). This avoids infections and bad odors
Machine washable - Due to better material properties and a innovative production technologies Aerothane can be put into the washing machine
Odorless - Aerothane does not evaporate toxic dioxines and thereby is odorless. It is healthy and no harassment to the nose
Sustainable and Recyclable - Aerothane is totally recyclable and the production of it needs just a fraction of the energy which is needed to produce other rubbers. Most other rubber foams use oil as one essential ingredient – Aerothane is oil and chlorine free. Beside the benefits for the user, it will give you the feeling to do something better for our nature
Higher insulation - Compared to Neoprene and others Aerothane has a better temperature insulation. No thermal bridges occur because no ash is needed in the production
Benefits for manufacturing
Heat Sealing - GreeFlex is thermo plastic and therefor can be heat sealed, which could lead to more efficient production and seamless products
Injection Molding or Extrusion - You can choose if you need ready extruded sheets for production or raw material for injection molding (spray cast)
Colors - Life is color full and so is Aerothane. Just let us know which color you want for your design and we will make it possible
Made in Germany - We gurantee highest product standards and the reliability you are used from „zee Germans“
Choose Length and width of Aerothane - Due to the extrusion process we can offer a big variety of length and width, which will keep the offcut at a minimum and avoids trash and costs.
Sports, Clothing & Medical
As the Aerothane technology enabels almost endless variations of foam types due to all the tuning possibilities, Aerothane foams can be costomized individually for our clients.
This makes Aerothane to one of the most versatile materials for high tech apparel, sporting cloths, outerwear and many other applications as :
Watersports - Wetsuits without Neoprene, Dry Suits, Fishing apparel (pants, Jackets)
Clothing and other sporting goods - Shoes, Jackets, protectors, compression apparel, shirts, horse bandages etc. etc.
Medical - Bandages, braces, Orthoses, Prothesen, dressing
Industrial - Automotive, Construction, Electronics, Insulation
From sustainable resources and efficient production to recyclability
Aerothane is made from thermoplastic Polyurethanes and therefore is produced from renewable, natural and unharmful resources. Also the production of Aerothane is much less energy consuming and does not require oil, Chlorine gases or Fluoride and other harmful ingredients as additives. This means not just nature, but also the people who are getting in contact with Aerothane are preserved and kept away from toxic migrations.
Aerothane has much better lamination and glueing properties. Therefore natural and financial resources are saved during the lamination process.
Another huge advantage of Aerothane, compared to most other insulation and weather protecting garments or materials, is that it is fully recyclable. Aerothane is a thermoplastic material, which can be fused and reused. Neither toxic chlorine gases, nor dioxines and fluorides evaporate while re-melting or burning Aerothane.
